What is a Liquid Face Lift?

We all lose that plumpness that gives our faces a youthful shape and fullness as we age. It’s an unfortunate fact that with aging, people accumulate the fat in the middle of their bodies but lose it on cheeks, and other areas on the face. The process of losing fat is the leading cause of saggy skin and can make you appear older than your real age. Continue reading below to find out how you can remedy this problem with the help of liquid face lift.

A liquid face lift can give your face a youthful look by filling up the shallow areas of your face that have lost volume due to aging.   It is done by using products made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance we all have in our skin that gives it a youthful appearance.  Natural hyaluronic acid fillers are a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment that do not have any known severe side effects.  In this article, we will discuss how a Liquid face lift can help you regain more youthful facial contours and fullness.

How Does A Liquid Face Lift Work?

A liquid face lift involves the lifting, plumping, filling, smoothing, and/or re-contouring of the face through the use of dermal fillers such as Restylane,  Lyft, Defyne, Juvederm, and Sculptra.  Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can be added as well to stimulate your bodies own collagen production.  Fillers vary and are produced in different ways using different materials, and their specific applications vary somewhat, too.  As part of the overall procedure, these products are often used in conjunction with each other and in addition to Botox and/or Dysport. In short, a liquid face lift involves the addition of hyaluronic acid fillers to plump up the skin on your face.  It’s usually performed on the temples, underneath the lower eyelid, lips, folds between the mouth and the nose and to lift sagging cheeks. Depending on your individualized treatment plan, you may need one or more sessions with Dr. Harpe.    Your first session typically takes about an hour, and doesn’t require significant recovery time.

Different Types of Fillers

Dermal fillers used in a liquid face lift vary greatly as nowadays, a large number of substances are used in dermal fillers. Here are some of the most common fillers used in a liquid face lift:

  • Hyaluronic acid: This is one of the most common dermal fillers used in the liquid face lift. The effects of hyaluronic acid can last between a year and 18  months and can be reversed if you don’t like the look.
  • Poly-L-lactic acid: Fillers containing Poly-L-lactic acid are known to boost collagen production, and the effects last up to 24 months. Although, you will need 3 to 4 sessions for this to work.
  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP):  This filler injection uses your own platelets, growth factors and plasma to boost your own collagen production. This can be used in conjunction with hyaluronic acid fillers for best results.

Dysport: Although not a filler, Dysport is often used along with filler treatments to relax dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines and crows feet, and its effects can last up to 4 months.
