Q: What is laser hair removal?
The medical procedure is a process to remove unwanted hair using a targeted laser beam. During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to the individual hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. The surface of the skin is left unharmed.
Q: How effective is laser hair removal?
Using the right laser and receiving treatment from a skilled practitioner has a permanent success rate as high as 99%. However, several factors can influence treatment effectiveness – such as hair color, coarseness, hormonal changes, skin tone, and other genetic traits. Therefore, some clients will require a few additional treatments in order to achieve their personal level of desired results.
Q: Does laser hair removal work on all skin types and hair colors?
Our office can safely treat all skin types and with the right amount of treatments, reach your desired effects. However, certain hair will not respond to laser treatment, including white hair and blond hair. Red hair may respond to our laser, but not to the same degree as darker hair colors. Treatment viability can be determined during your complimentary consultation.

Q: Will I need to receive multiple treatments?
Hair follicles undergo 3 growth cycles including the Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. To complete laser treatment successfully, it is necessary to treat hair during the active, or Anagen phase, of the growth cycle. Because of this, the typical number of treatments ranges from 6 – 8, spaced about 8 weeks apart. In some cases, less treatments are indicated especially if the goal is to simply reduce the amount of hair in the area such as the arms or back.
Q: Do I need to shave before treatment?
YES. It is important that you complete a close shave on the day of your treatment. If there are areas that you are unable to shave yourself, we will do it for you to ensure an effective treatment. Any waxing or any other method that removes the entire hair follicle, including the root, must be discontinued at least three weeks prior to treatment.
Q: Is laser hair removal painful?
For most patients, they may feel what they describe as a “warm sensation” for larger areas such as their back and legs. Most clients find it very tolerable and worth the results. For highly sensitive areas, some feel more of a quick pinching or snapping feeling, but don’t find it too bothersome – especially when compared to the pain of waxing.
Q: Will I have to use any topical numbing preparations before my treatment?
No. We rarely use numbing creams. Rather, our laser equipment makes treatments comfortable while increasing effectiveness with the best cooling technology available.
Q: Should I buy a single treatment or a package?
Depending on if you want to just reduce the amount of hair in the area or completely remove it, It is best to come in for a complimentary consultation to determine upfront exactly how many treatments will be the most effective for you. We do not push expensive packages, rather provide both single treatments and discounted package options. We’re confident that you’ll be satisfied with each treatment you receive and never pay for treatments that you do not need!
Q: What if I want to simply reduce the amount of hair on my body?

It is best to shave the morning of your appointment. Also, be sure the skin to be treated is free from any lotions, creams, or fragrances. If we’re treating the underarms, avoid using deodorant prior to your arrival, or we can provide an opportunity to remove it prior to treatment.
Q: What is the length of a standard treatment?
Treatment times vary according to size of area to be treated, but generally, most areas are covered in a matter of minutes. Back, chest/abs, or legs are finished in roughly 30 minutes, making it truly a lunch time procedure.
